The measurement of membership by subjective ratio estimation
نویسنده
چکیده
When we perform algebraic operations on membership degrees, we must be sure that they are compatible with the kind of scale on which these degrees are measured. For example, we will not add (in a weighted average) membership degrees that are measured on an ordinal scale. An important question is therefore how to determine on which kind of scale we measure the membership. There are several techniques for measuring membership. In this paper, we present some of them, based on Stevens’ technique of ratio estimation, and we characterize them, thereby providing a sound way to determine the level of measurement. We also discuss the problem of the representation of the union or intersection by a t-conorm or t-norm.

Robust Identification of Smart Foam Using Set Mem-bership Estimation in A Model Error Modeling Frame-work
The aim of this paper is robust identification of smart foam, as an electroacoustic transducer, considering unmodeled dynamics due to nonlinearities in behaviour at low frequencies and measurement noise at high frequencies as existent uncertainties. Set membership estimation combined with model error modelling technique is used where the approach is based on worst case scenario with unknown but...
متن کاملAutomatic Bounding Estimation in Modified Nlms Algorithm
Modified Normalized Least Mean Square (MNLMS) algorithm, which is a sign form of NLMS based on set-membership (SM) theory in the class of optimal bounding ellipsoid (OBE) algorithms, requires a priori knowledge of error bounds that is unknown in most applications. In a special but popular case of measurement noise, a simple algorithm has been proposed. With some simulation examples the performa...
متن کاملCO2 Measurement of Synthetic Biogas by Passing It through Dilute NaOH Solution
The feasibility of measuring CO2 content in biogas was evaluated in this research. Firstly, Curtipot pH simulator was used to visualize the titration behaviors of various percentages of dissolved CO2 in a wide range of concentrations of NaOH solution. As a general output of those simulations, it was shown that when the titration curves of different CO2 conte...
متن کاملNew adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
متن کاملChannel Estimation and CFO Compensation in OFDM System Using Adaptive Filters in Wavelet Transform Domain
Abstarct In this paper, combination of channel, receiver frequency-dependent IQ imbalance and carrier frequency offset estimation under short cyclic prefix (CP) length are considered in OFDM system. An adaptive algorithm based on the set-membership filtering (SMF) algorithm is used to compensate for these impairments. In short CP length, per-tone equalization (PTEQ) structure is used to avoid i...
